Like any cat Boris started with 9 lives. How many he has left varies!
Factors which affect his lives rating include his current state of health and how he behaves. The lowest life rating he has ever had was 1/4 when he first became ill. He can never go back up to nine but would considerably improve his lives rating if he would behave himself! It doesnt help when he doesnt stick to his diet, he has a fondness for mice! The only other time his rating has been nearly as low was when he was sick all over my embroidery, which had taken me six months and was nearing completion!His rating went down to 1/2 life, His life was hanging by a thread!
Current rating 6.5. Went for a check up today has lost a little weight so has had his insulin increased to 2.5 units.
30th October. Current rating 7.5. He has gained weight on 2.5 units but has had a couple of hypos at night. In response I have tried giving him a snack prior to going to bed and that seems to help. Most cats go hypo during the day, but Boris, being Boris, is an exception.
Update 8th October 2009. Lives rating 4 out of 9. Boris has not been very well recently and become very dehydrated, see the main page for further details. Hopefully he will be home from hospital soon and be well enough to start campaigning again.
18th Oct.2009. Boris has been very ill but seems a lot better now. We have no idea what caused this latest wobble, but he seems to have got over it. Thank God for Petplan. I find them excellent, and they never quibble about the claims. He has literally cost them thousands. Current status 6 out of 9. Back up to 2.5 units. I have told him I guess we are stuck with each other.
1st Nov 2009. Poorly. We have finally discovered he has had a very bad attack of pancreatitis. Back in hospital on a fat free diet, but no drip up this time. 4 out of 9, poor Boris.
7th Oct 2009. A lot better on his expensive fat free diet……….on 4 units of insulin and eating me out of house and home. Very cheerful. 7 out of 9. How does he do it?
